What you see in the mirror isn’t always what’s real.
Raise your right hand in front of a mirror and what do you see? It looks like your left hand is moving. Even though you know the truth, the reflection says otherwise. And that’s life. Sometimes things look one way but are completely different in reality. This is the duality of man.
It’s why the Bible warns us: “Lean not on your own understanding” (Proverbs 3:5). Because outside of God’s Word, we don’t truly know what’s right or wrong, what’s real or distorted. Without the lens of Scripture, we are prone to misjudge people, situations, and even ourselves.
That’s why Jesus says, “Judge not, lest you be judged.” Because what looks “left” to you might actually be “right” in God’s eyes. There’s a deeper reality we can’t always see.
Today, my coach—who doesn’t even know the Lord—called and dropped a gem on me. He said:
“Jet, the race starts now. It was never about national championships or podiums. Your real race is becoming the best version of you. That’s your championship. That’s your world record. Because the influence you carry with your voice is 50x greater than what you’ll ever do on the track. So be the greatest man of God you can possibly be—and then you’ll see the real fruits of life.”
Whew. That shook me. Because sometimes God speaks even through unexpected voices.
To whoever’s reading this:
Don’t chase the reflection. Chase the reality.
Don’t just try to be great strive to be godly.
That’s where true greatness is born.
